ASUSTOR DRIVESTOR 2 Lite (AS1102TL)

ASUSTOR launches its most affordable DRIVESTOR 2 Lite NAS

Not everyone has $2,000 to spend on a NAS enclosure, where ASUSTOR hopes to sell its new DRIVESTOR 2 Lite (AS1102TL). Compared to the older DRIVESTOR this NAS replaces, ASUSTOR bumped the processor clock speeds, improved the integrated GPU for better transcode support, and allowed for larger capacity drives to be used.

The ASUSTOR AS1102TL comes equipped with ADM 4.2, the latest version of the company’s NAS operating system. It’s easy to install and is great to use daily. Like other DRIVESTOR Pro enclosures, this NAS fully supports the Btrfs file system. Using Btrfs can help shield the NAS and data stored within against ransomware threats, protect data integrity, and make backing up your life that little bit easier.

Although this happens to be one of the most affordable NAS from ASUSTOR, it’s still a capable compact server with decent specifications for a starter NAS or one used for file storage alone.

ASUSTOR points out that the upgraded Realtek RTD1619B has a better integrated GPU, though I’d still advise against using an ARM-equipped NAS for running Plex Media Server. I’d instead direct you to my list of the best NAS for Plex to help you make the right decision with enclosures rocking far better processors.

At just $175, this is a cheap NAS and one that’s easy to recommend to save cost on canceling cloud storage subscriptions. It’s available right now for purchase from participating retailers.

The AS1102TL from ASUSTOR is an affordable two-bay NAS with an ARM chip and full support for Btrfs and the latest version of the brand’s excellent OS.
