ASUSTOR announced the availability of a new family of NAS servers. The FLASHSTOR 6 (FS6706T) and FLASHSTOR 12 Pro (FS6712X) are flash-based NAS designed for use with solid-state drives (SSDs). Doing so unlocks serious potential for high bandwidth and throughput operations, as well as cutting down on noise and power draw.
The FLASHSTOR 6 is positioned as the more affordable entry point into this new ASUSTOR NAS family. Inside, you’ll find an Intel Celeron N5105 CPU, 4GB of DDR4 RAM, 6 M.2 bays for SSDs, two 2.5GbE ports, multiple USB ports, an HDMI port, and a power draw of just 18W. The M.2 slots make these among the best NAS in terms of speed.
Moving up to the FS6712X and the only real change in the specifications are the additional six M.2 slots and the removal of two 2.5GbE ports in favor of a single 10GbE connection. It draws more power due to the doubling of storage bays, but it’s still low at just 26W. Both NAS enclosures are capable of using integrated graphics.
