Best RAM for TerraMaster T6-423

The TerraMaster T6-423 is a powerful NAS with 4GB of RAM preinstalled from the factory. This amount of system memory is sufficient for most home and small business use, but if you were to run more intensive apps on the enclosure, have more than a dozen people access it simultaneously, or wish to install your own NAS OS, I’d recommend upgrading the RAM. Here’s what you’ll need and how to do it.

One could consider the TerraMaster T6-423 to be one of the best NAS enclosures due to its value and specifications. The process of installing RAM modules inside the TerraMaster T6-423 is a straightforward process, though a screwdriver is required to gain access to the two available DIMM slots.

  1. Shut down the NAS and unplug everything.
  2. Remove the two screws holding the chassis together.
  3. Slide the side panel backward to remove it and open up the T6-423.

The second DIMM slot and two M.2 SSD slots will now be available. If you’re only adding a module on the T6-423, you can use this second RAM slot. I’d recommend upgrading the RAM with a pair of DIMMs, which would require the removal of the mainboard as the primary RAM slot is on the other side.

  1. Remove the four screws holding the mainboard to the SATA expansion card.
  2. Carefully remove the mainboard, turning it slightly to allow the rear ports to slide through the chassis cutout.

You’ll now have full access to both DIMM slots for upgrading the system memory. Simply follow our steps in reverse to put the NAS back together.
