Buffalo announced the release of its new TerraStation 71210RH series NAS. That’s quite a mouthful and that’s because it’s an impressive rackmount server with 12 3.5-inch drives. The 2U server is available as partially and fully populated, depending on requirements and the capacity can hit an impressive 240TB.
Inside the Buffalo TerraStation 7121RH, you’ll find a server-grade quad-core Intel Xeon processor with four native 10GbE ports. This processor is capable of boosting up to 3.50GHz, making it ideal for handling large data requests and plenty of simultaneous connections. 16GB of DDR4 RAM comes preinstalled with the ability for 64GB to be installed.

Two PCIe slots are available for expansion cards to unlock high-speed network connections and SSD caching. These specifications allow you to configure the 71210RH to your liking, deploying the NAS for production data storage, application server, large-scale data storage and backup, mission-critical file server, and more.
Buffalo utilizes some rather robust security measures, including two-factor authentication for login protection, a closed system, 256-bit AES drive encryption, and extensive backup functionality. Full support for the Btrfs filesystem is present too, unlocking accept to snapshots for short-term data recovery.
If all that wasn’t enough, Buffalo offers a five-year warranty with the TerraStation 7121RH. For pricing, you can expect to pay a fair amount since Buffalo sells the NAS as partially or fully populated with drives. We’ve seen $13,000 for the server with 12 12TB NAS drives preinstalled and ready to go.
