Connecting to your Synology NAS will either involve the Synology Assistant app or remembering what internal IP address has been assigned to the server. There is an easier way through the use of a QuickConnect ID, which requires a Synology Account. In this guide, we’ll show you how to set up and change QuickConnect ID on Synology NAS.
The QuickConnect ID can make the process of connecting to your NAS vastly more straightforward compared to loading an IP address. this is especially the case if you frequently access the NAS outside of your LAN since most consumer IP addresses provided by their ISP often change.
We’re going to show you how to set up QuickConnect ID, as well as change it, on a Synology NAS.
How to set up QuickConnect ID on Synology NAS
Setting up QuickConnect ID on your Synology NAS for the first time is a breeze and only includes a few steps. If you already created a Synology Account when initializing your NAS, you can skip steps 3-7.
- Log into your Synology NAS.
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Services > Synology Account.
- Click on the link for Synology Account.
- In the newly opened tab, create a new Synology Account or sign in (you’ll have one if you created it during the initial NAS setup).
- Go back to your Synology NAS DSM web interface and connect to the Synology Account.
- Go to External Access > QuickConnect.
- Check the Enable QuickConnect box.
- Create a QuickConnect ID in the box below. This is to identify and connect to your NAS.

- Click Apply.
How to change QuickConnect ID on Synology NAS
If you’d like to change the QuickConnect ID on your Synology NAS, this takes a few steps to achieve without leaving the local DSM interface.
- Log into your Synology NAS.
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to External Access > QuickConnect.
- Enter your desired QuickConnect ID in the QuickConnect ID field, replacing what was already there.
