How to reboot a QNAP NAS

Rebooting a QNAP NAS is an easy process. Sometimes you may need to give the NAS a quick reboot, be it after an update or if an issue arises that access to QTS is unavailable. There are a few methods to do so, some involving the QTS operating system, whilst others make use of the power button. This guide will run you through how to reboot a QNAP NAS quickly.

How to reboot a QNAP NAS with QTS

It’s easy to reboot a QNAP NAS using QTS. Simply log into the admin web UI and click a few buttons. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Log into your QNAP NAS.
  2. Click on the user in the top-right of the web admin UI.
  3. Choose Restart.
  4. Confirm you wish to reboot the NAS by choosing Yes.
  5. Wait for the NAS to perform the reboot.

How to reboot a QNAP NAS with the power button

If you’re unable to access QTS or wish to reboot the NAS without accessing the admin UI, it’s possible to gracefully shut down a QNAP NAS using the power button.

  1. Press and hold the power button for approximately five seconds. (The status indicator should start flashing.)
  2. Wait for the NAS to gracefully shut down.
  3. Press the power button.

How to schedule reboots in QNAP QTS

If you’d like to schedule reboots for your QNAP NAS, there’s a slightly longer process within QTS, but we’ve simplified the steps below:

  2. Open Control Panel.
  3. Go to System > Power > Power Schedule.
  4. Select Enable schedule.
