QNAP Launches new TS-253E and TS-453E NAS with long-term support

QNAP today announced the launch of the new TS-253E and TS-453E network-attached storage. The new two and four-bay NAS are available with Intel Celeron J6412 processors, dual 2.5Gb networking, and M.2 PCIe SSD slots. If you’re looking for a server to run Plex or some other streaming service, these may well just be what you’re searching for.

As well as the impressive aforementioned specifications, QNAP added two HDMI ports for good measure. But you don’t need to rely on this as the Intel Celeron J6412 processor has four physical cores and is capable of bursting up to 2.6GHz. The two enclosures will be supported by QNAP for an extended period — up to 2029.

Businesses that require long-term support will appreciate the reassurance from QNAP. The rest of the feature list supports this with 8GB of RAM, two 2.5Gb LAN ports, as well as two M.2 SSD slots. Interestingly, QNAP added not one but two HDMI ports to each NAS, allowing for not only multimedia playback but also surveillance and other scenarios.

Like ASUSTOR, QNAP not only allows the M.2 slots to be used for SSD caching but also storage, taking full advantage of QNAP Qtier, which allows the NAS to automatically move data across SSDs and HDDs. The QNAP TS-253E and QNAP TS-453E will arrive with the latest version of QTS. These could well be considered for our best NAS collection.
