TerraMaster F4-423

TerraMaster fixes F2-223 and F4-223 GPU issues with TOS 5.1.33

TerraMaster has rolled out a significant update for its TOS operating system. If you’re using either the F2-223 or F4-223 you may have noticed degraded performance when it comes to the GPU. This release fixes that issue! Here’s everything that is new in TOS 5.1.33.

What’s new in TerraMaster TOS 5.1.33?

  • Optimized the speed of SMB under 10GbE network environment.
  • Modified the download path of the update package.

  • Fixed an issue that 423/223 series cannot use hardware video acceleration.
  • Fixed an issue that the array in the external hard disk box could not be repaired.

It’s worth noting that this update includes a version of the Linux Kernel (5.15) that drops support for the Intel Celeron J1800/J1900 GPUs. If you’re using a NAS that has this CPU, we recommend not updating TOS if you wish to continue using the GPU. NAS affected include the F2-220, F2-420, F4-220, F4-420, and F5-420.

How to install this TOS update

Because it’s relatively small in size, you can ensure your best TerraMaster NAS is up-to-date in a few moments. Remember: this update is for x86 (Intel) TerraMaster NAS only. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to TOS > Control Panel > General settings > Software update.
  2. Check the option Online update.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Follow the update wizard to finish the update.

You can also install the latest version of TOS manually if you don’t have net access on the TerraMaster NAS at this very second:

  1. Download the update from the TerraMaster website.
  2. Go to TOS> Control Panel> General Settings> Update & Restore.
  3. Click Manual Update.
  4. Click Browse and choose the downloaded update file.
  5. Click Apply.
