TerraMaster F2-212

TerraMaster launches F2-212, F4-212, and U4-212 NAS

TerraMaster launched the new F2-212, F4-212, and U4-212 NAS for households and businesses, catering to different needs and requirements. These new enclosures support the company’s TRAID, utilizing the Btrfs file system, Snapshots, and TFSS, providing solid data protection against loss through backups. The two F-series NAS share a new design for TerraMaster.

TerraMaster F2-212

The TerraMaster F2-212 is first up and both this enclosure and the F4-212 adopt a new design and color scheme. Instead of the usual aluminum look we’ve come to know and love from TerraMaster, the F2-212 is an all-black chassis with what TerraMaster states aids with more effective heat dissipation.

The drive trays have been redesigned and are now easier to remove from the chassis and install 3.5-inch drives, much like many of the best NAS out there. Using a new push-lock system, each tray automatically locks in place when inserted into the F2-212, preventing the drive from accidentally dislodging from the SATA port.

For specifications, we’re looking at the Realtek 1619B ARM processor with four physical cores capable of hitting 1.7 GHz. 1GB of RAM is installed and while this cannot be expanded at a later date, this should be more than enough for what this enclosure is capable of.

A maximum capacity of 44TB is possible and a single 1GbE connection will provide ample bandwidth. Two USB-A ports can be used for hooking up external storage. It’s an affordable NAS, coming in at $170, taking on the Synology DiskStation DS223j.

The F2-212 from TerraMaster has an ARM processor, 1GB of RAM, and an all-new black design with some useful improvements.

TerraMaster F4-212

The TerraMaster F4-212 is almost identical to the F2-212 and comes with the new design and other features, but has an additional two drive bays. Like the F2-212, this enclosure supports the latest release of TerraMaster’s TOS operating system and TRAID for the best NAS drives.

Inside is the same Realtek 1619B ARM processor with 2GB of RAM. This is to aid the CPU with the additional drive bays, resulting in a maximum capacity of 88TB. This is a better pick for those seeking to store more data.

TerraMaster U4-212

The TerraMaster U4-212 is a 1U rackmount NAS server with an ARM V8.2 Cortex-A55 64-bit 1.7GHz processor, the same quad-core chip in the two other 212 NAS from TerraMaster. 2GB of RAM is at hand for storing data and the four drive bays can hold a raw capacity of up to 88TB.

Regardless of what operating system and device you’re using, the U4-212 will be able to securely store all your data for convenient access. It’ll be launching later this year. We’ll hopefully. have pricing and a release date for the F4-212 and U4-212 soon.
