Side of the TerraMaster F4-424 Pro

TerraMaster’s affordable F4-212 NAS is now available with TOS 5.1

TerraMaster is finally launching the affordable F4-212 NAS to join the F2-212 enclosure. You may have already heard about these two NAS devices and that’s because they were originally announced back in August 2023 and now we’re seeing the 4-bay listings go live. The F4-212 is the highlight with four drive bays, the same Realtek ARM processor, and an affordable price tag, making it a good pick for a starter NAS with high-capacity support.

Launching a new affordable NAS

Inside the TerraMaster F2-212 is the Realtek 1619B ARM quad-core processor, capable of boosting up to 1.7 GHz. 1 GB of DDR4 RAM is present and this cannot be expanded. The two drive bays can support up to 44 TB of data, though this would likely be cut in half when using a RAID. It’s an affordable NAS rocking TerraMaster’s new black design, replacing the aluminum brushed look and feel.

The TerraMaster F4-212 has similar specifications aside from dimensions, weight, and power draw. It’s also available with 2 GB of RAM. This is because it has two additional drive trays for a maximum capacity support of 88 TB. With four drives installed, you can make use of far higher capacities with RAID configured. Since these are two affordable enclosures, there aren’t any M.2 slots for SSDs, nor is there 2.5GbE networking.

Replacing the 210 series of budget-friendly NAS from TerraMaster, I’m a big fan of the F2-212 and F4-212 with their new design, shared with the 424 range of NAS. If you’re looking for your first NAS device or need somewhere to stash some files and backups and run a few services, the F2-212 and F4-212 are a good place to start with TerraMaster’s NAS catalog.
